Built in 1892, the town of Swakopmund offers a rare meeting of German architecture, colonial history with Namibian culture, desert landscapes and the Atlantic ocean. Regarded as the cultural melting pot along the Nambian coast, the town allure lies in its attractions and activities.

The town sprang up as an oasis near the west coast of Namibia. The German had established themselves in the area and required water. The town's name "Swakopmund" is based on the San language word's for rhinoceros("xwaka") and river (“ob”) The town grew rapidly and by 1909 had a municipality. 

Nowadays, the town offers a thrilling look into the history of Namibia, excellent cuisine, great attractions and exciting ambience for adventure.
